Dr. Malinda Davenport Crisp, LPC/MHSP-S - Clinical Director

Dr. Davenport is a seasoned mental health professional with over two decades of experience serving the Nashville, Tennessee community. She specializes in treating life impacting symptoms, the assessment and treatment of compulsive behaviors, self-defeating patterns, addiction recovery, anger management, codependency, and life transitions.

​

Dr. D earned her PhD in Clinical Counseling and Supervision from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2014 and holds an undergraduate degree in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University. Her therapeutic approach is integrative, incorporating modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Nonviolent Communication (NVC). She is also trained in Rule 31 family and civil mediation, enhancing her capabilities in conflict resolution.

 

As the founder of Davenport Counseling, LLC, Dr. D is committed to providing inclusive and affirming care. She has publicly endorsed non-discriminatory practices in mental health services, particularly concerning sexual orientation and gender identity, through her involvement with the Tennessee Equality Project.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Davenport contributes to the professional community by presenting at conferences, such as the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association (TLPCA) 2024 conference. Her dedication to empowering individuals through personalized, evidence-based care underscores her role as a trusted leader in the field of mental health.

Randy Cook, LPC/MHSP (temp)

Randy brings over 35 years of leadership experience in healthcare, coupled with a deep commitment to improving men's health since 1996. Now in his second career, he dedicates his time to guiding men and their families through the healing process of emotional wounds drawing on his wisdom and compassion.

 

Currently, as a LPC/MHSP (temp), Randy is under supervision ensuring  you're receiving the best care possible. Randy's journey is a to his passion for fostering well-being in men's lives.

Julie Betts Webb, Masters Level Intern

With nearly two decades of experience in public service and community welfare, Julie brings a deep well of understanding and compassion to our practice.  Julie enjoys working with clients who are dealing with a  variety of symptoms and issues.

 

Julie offers a faith-affirming approach for those who desire it, thoughtfully integrating spiritual beliefs into the counseling process. She honors each person’s unique background and tailors her approach to support their values—whether they seek a faith-based perspective or a more secular path. Her counseling style is grounded in authenticity, trust, and empathy, empowering clients to explore their experiences, build resilience, and move toward healing and growth.

Zina Yzquierdo, LPC-MHSP

Zina holds a PhD in Special Education from the University of New Mexico and a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Argosy University. A fluent Spanish speaker, her professional journey bridges the fields of mental health, education, and community advocacy. Zina serves adults, children, and families with a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed approach. She is passionate about supporting clients in reducing stress, building communication skills, and strengthening family connections.

 

Zina’s dual background as a therapist and special educator gives her unique insight into the relationship between academic learning and emotional well-being.  Her mental health therapeutic work is grounded in evidence-based practices including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, and Nonviolent Communication.

Jackie Moment, Masters Level Intern

Meet Jackie Moment who joins us as a counselor intern pursuing licensure. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychological Sciences with a minor in Neuroscience and a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. His academic and professional journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to mental health and holistic care.

For five years, he worked as a Care Manager at a local community mental health agency, supporting older teens and young adults through complex life transitions, helping them navigate challenges, housing instability, and developmental milestones. This experience strengthened his passion for counseling and person-centered care.

Jackie also serves as a Dementia Program Manager, where he presents trainings and implements individualized support strategies for clients and their families.

Outside of work, he enjoys time with family and creating special memories. His personal and professional life is guided by compassion, curiosity, and a commitment to making meaningful connections through therapeutic work.

Jacob Cuva, Masters Level Intern

Jacob is a counseling intern currently pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Trevecca Nazarene University. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Jacob moved to Nashville in 2018 to pursue a career in music. He eventually discovered a deeper calling in healthcare, particularly within mental health. Outside of the therapy office, Jacob continues to work as a mastering engineer as well as writing and recording his own songs.

​

Passionate about creating a judgment-free space, Jacob aims to facilitate personal growth and development in the areas of well-being that clients wish to explore. Incorporating techniques such as non-violent communication, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills like mindfulness, and elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Jacob is dedicated to equipping clients with valuable tools for their mental health journey.

Believing in the power of collaboration, Jacob fosters a supportive environment where clients can work through challenges related to self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, and more. As a partner in this process, Jacob is committed to celebrating successes and guiding clients toward a more fulfilling life.
